Converting Anna
Practice talking with Anna and inviting her to your Gospel Meeting.
Anna may not give you an easy yes. Listen carefully, follow up naturally, and try to keep the conversation open.
Your Name
What should Anna call you?
Today’s Practice
Your congregation is having a Gospel Meeting this Sunday. You would like Anna to come with you.
Anna is friendly, but she often says things like “Maybe,” “I’ll see,” or “I’ll let you know.”
Your Turn
Talk to Anna just like you would in real life.
Need A Little Help?
Anna may brush you off instead of giving you a clear answer.
Try asking a friendly follow-up question instead of immediately ending the conversation.
Example:
“I’d really like you to come. Do you already have something planned for Sunday?”
Or:
“If this Sunday doesn’t work, would it be okay if I called you later this week?”
Practice Notes
Write down something you want to remember for your next outreach conversation.
Practice Sharing Your Faith
Meet Anna.
Anna used to attend church and enjoyed many things about it, but she no longer attends regularly. She has questions, concerns, and sometimes strong opinions about church and the Bible.
Your goal is to practice having a kind, respectful, and Scripture-centered conversation with Anna.
This is not about winning an argument. Practice listening carefully, understanding what Anna is saying, and knowing when to answer, when to ask another question, and when to simply keep the door open for another conversation.
How It Works
1. Choose a Conversation
Select the type of conversation you would like to practice with Anna.
2. Listen to Anna
Anna will ask a question, make a comment, or explain something she believes.
3. Give Your Response
Answer Anna as though you were having a real conversation. You can type your response or use the available speaking tools.
4. Continue the Conversation
Anna may ask another question, disagree with you, need clarification, or tell you she needs more time.
5. Use Scripture When Needed
Use the Bible and Scripture Help tools to support your answer and make sure you understand the passages you are discussing.
6. Review Your Conversation
At the end, review how the conversation went and identify anything you may want to study or practice again.
Remember
Be patient. Listen carefully. Don't belittle Anna's previous religious experiences or beliefs.
If you don't know an answer, it is okay to say:
“That's a good question. Let me study that some more.”
You don't have to answer every question immediately.
Sometimes a good spiritual conversation doesn't end with someone agreeing with you. It ends with that person being willing to talk with you again.
